Shaking Up the Status Quo

Vince Ferraro is a creative general management executive who contributes his world-class, Fortune 100 marketing knowledge to infuse new revenue and market share growth strategies while maintaining profitability. His bold moves, competitive instincts, and experience working on three continents are the perfect match for a Consumer or B2B technology company with global ambitions. In his 20-year career with HP — most recently in a CMO-level role for HP’s LaserJet Global Business Unit ($6B annual revenues) — he’s been on the forefront of major tech marketing shifts. He was instrumental in the introduction of completely new product categories, including the first desktop color inkjet printer, wide format raster plotter, localized printers in China, multi-function printers that displaced copiers, and unique consumer appliances with a cloud-based service. He was also involved in the massive launch, transition, and expansion of key consumer/retail categories, most notably PhotoSmart-branded cameras, scanners and printers, DeskJet, and LaserJet product lines.

Vince also worked at Eastman Kodak where he led end-to-end branding and marketing of their commercial digital printer brands including Versamark, Prosper, NexPress, and Digimaster. In addition, he managed Corporate and Consumer marketing for the company, including the Kodak brand during its tumultuous Chapter 11 bankruptcy period.

His strength in understanding the voice of the customer and then building competitive solutions that delight them has led to increased market share, new price points, product line expansion, and numerous product awards. He not only identifies new marketing opportunities, he also aggressively builds the business case to support them.

“Vince is an energetic leader and marketeer who inspires his teams to deliver results, but still enjoy doing it. He isn’t afraid to take risks and think unconventionally. He has a passion for doing what is right for the customer while delivering innovative products that help meet the needs of the marketplace.” – Mark Gehrett, Worldwide Product Marketing Manager- LaserJets, Hewlett Packard

Bleeding-Edge Communications

Vince is best known for his passionate communications that have made him a visible leader of global, virtual teams and technology marketing. In his Tech Marketing Peitho blog, he transparently shares his experience of being in charge of some of the most successful technology brands in the world and his tactics to help produce billion-dollar businesses. Having established HP’s most successful executive blog, Vince was featured as a social media pioneer in the book, Groundswell: Winning in a World Transformed by Social Technologies, and made AdAge’s Power 150 list.

Creative Brainstorming

Innovations in building the business and the brand require creativity, and Vince has a strong track record of fearlessly generating novel ideas. For example, he conceived a campaign to find the world’s oldest laser printer for the LaserJet’s 20th anniversary, resulting in valuable customer endorsements that reinforced HP’s brand proposition. When HP bought Compaq, he saved millions with his idea to sell their acquired Lexmark print cartridges to a competitor on the open market.

Leadership is not a Bureaucracy

Vince brings a big-company, process-oriented mentality to smaller companies while leaving the red tape at the door. Although he offers best practices for accurate supply-demand management, strategic planning, talent management, and more, he has a reputation as a guy who can make something happen in any organizational culture. Since speed matters, Vince coaches his teams to use sound judgment and business plans to execute quickly and near perfectly. One of the many advantages of Vince’s career at HP is that it exposed him to a range of lines of businesses, domestically and internationally. His cross-functional experience in finance, strategic planning, and category operations roles have allowed him to better manage and grow businesses through a marketing lens.

It Comes Down to Helping People

Throughout all the upsizing, downsizing, and restructuring in his career, Vince has remained a leader who is focused on making diverse talent successful. At HP, he hired some of the first female managers in Asia who are now VPs and was the executive sponsor of the Latinos Hoy employee resources group. He blogs to help others create and deliver world-class marketing. Vince supports charities that give individuals tangible resources that will make a game-changing difference in their lives.
